A new MacInnes TartanIn celebration of the International Year of Homecoming, the International Association of Clan MacInnes has approved a new tartan; "The MacInnes Homecoming Tartan".
The tartan, designed by the House of Edgar in Perth and woven at its mill in the Moray village of Keith, is predominantly grey, to symbolise the granite slopes of the majestic mountains of Appin, Skye, Lochaber and Craignish, the clan's ancestral lands. The black overcheck was used as a mark of respect for Clan MacInnes' last chief, killed in the mid 14th century, while the red overcheck is used to commemorate those clansmen that fell on both sides, during the Jacobite uprisings.
